If you are into amusement parks and the amusement park experience, there simply is no better place to live than Orlando.
It’s truly an embarrassment of riches. Parks with great rides? Check. Parks with great water slides? Check. Parks with themes that will connect with you and your kids, such as Disney characters, superheroes and Harry Potter? Check, check and check.
Still, it’s not always possible to drag everyone to an amusement park, where the fun is big but so are the prices. That’s why party rental companies continue to grow, even in place with so many options such as Orlando.
The Amusement Park Experience
Here are some of the top amusement park attractions in the Orlando area and ways you can recreate the fun in your own backyard or at a festival or carnival, using ideas gleaned from FunCrew USA, a party rental company that specializes in providing great entertainment for large parties.
Thrill Rides
Where to begin? Orlando is the center of the universe when it comes to thrill rides.
At Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, there are classics such as Space Mountain as well as cool rides like the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean. Animal Kingdom has the Expedition Everest roller coaster, which runs both forward and backward. And Hollywood Studios has The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
Despite the worldwide reputation of Disney, many Floridians prefer Universal Studios, which has an entire section just for Harry Potter-related entertainment. That includes the stellar Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. There’s also the Hulk roller coaster and the virtual reality ride (now in 3-D) called The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man.
While it’s not advisable, or legal, to build a roller-coaster in your backyard, there are an amazing number of thrill rides available through rental companies.
Just visit the FunCrew website and check out the Extreme Attractions page. The choices include the following:
- A 50-foot tall Ferris Wheel
- The Reckless Ride, which spins the riders and lets them feel G-forces
- A Mobile Zip Line
- Mechanical Bull Ride
- Ultimate Bungee Trampoline
- Mobile Stunt Jump
There’s even a giant inflatable couch for those not riding to kick back and watch those who are – try finding that at an amusement park!
Water Slides
Orlando is home to some of the world’s most revered water parks, including Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach.
Orlando also is home to one of the first water parks, Wet n’ Wild, which is closing at the end of 2016. There’s also Aquatica, the SeaWorld water park that includes water-themed attractions as well as the chance to see marine animals up close.
Of course, much like roller coasters, you are not going to put a dolphin or Killer Whale in the backyard. However, water slides are where party rental companies earned their reputations back in the early days of the business. They still offer a wild and amazing array of rides to enjoy.
On the FunCrew site alone, there are 17 water slides. They range from the big (The Typhoon Water Slide) to the smaller ones for kids (Wild Splash N Slide) and the unusual (the Dash N Splash, which combines an obstacle course and a water slide).
There’s also an old-fashioned dunk tank, which are always popular, and others that add spirals to the mix, such as the Tropical Vortex Water Slide.
So, as you can see, there is amusement park-like fun to be had without actually going to the amusement park. You just have to use your imagination and find the rentals that work best for your party plans.
You will not only save money, but you might find that you have a much better, more relaxed time enjoying rides without all the work that goes into taking the family to an amusement park.
