Orlando really is one of the most fun places on the planet. There’s a reason people are moving there in droves and that vacationers still come by the millions every year to check out the best things to do in Orlando.
Best Things To Do In Orlando
Many may not know about the best things to do in Orlando once you get past Disney World, SeaWorld and Universal’s Islands of Adventure. We explored a few places to go in Orlando with a previous article.
Now, here are a half dozen more.
Kennedy Space Center
An hour east of Orlando, the Kennedy Space Center is one of the main bases for NASA. There are many cool things to both see and do. You can visit the “Mission Zones” with exhibits on the space program from its beginnings to current projects. You can see a Saturn V rocket. You can experience what it’s like to be an astronaut in the “Shuttle Launch Experience.” And the whole time, you are where space exploration history was made.
Gatorland
It’s Florida, so of course there is a Gatorland. And, of course, it’s near Orlando. Gatorland is on a 110-acre farm south of Orlando. Just the sight of so many gators will be a thrill. But it’s even more exciting to ride a zip line over part of the gator habitat. There’s also a train ride and the “Gator Night Shine,” where you can view gators and other critters after dark.
WonderWorks
The science exhibits at Wonderworks will please both the little scientists and the not-so-interested-in-science people in your crew. Located on International Drive in Orlando, WonderWorks has more than 100 hands-on, educational exhibits. There’s also a glow in the dark ropes course, laser tag and a special magic show.
SEA LIFE Orlando
This fantastic aquarium has a 360-degree tunnel that allows you to walk through an aquatic habitat. There also are dive shows and a jellyfish wall exhibit. You can take a “behind the scenes” tour and see how aquarium workers care for the aquatic residents. The aquarium is located south of Orlando just off Interstate 4 on International Drive.
Titanic: The Artifact Exhibit
The sinking of the Titanic remains one of the most fascinating events in history. Of course, the film starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet helped make people even more interested. This exhibit features artifacts from the era when the ship sailed, as well as items recovered from the ship itself. That includes a large piece of the ship’s hull. The exhibit is also located on International Drive.
Miniature Golf
It doesn’t seem right to mention Orlando without mentioning miniature golf. We’re fans ourselves, and the Orlando area offers some great courses that can make the kids happy and the adults a little competitive. Congo River Adventure Golf is one of the best, because it also has caves, waterfalls and other mysteries on a course mapped out to follow the footsteps of Stanley and Livingstone. And yes, it’s also located – you guessed it – on International Drive.
Central Florida and Orlando are beautiful places to visit and live. Get out and enjoy all it has to offer.
