As we start getting into the heart of the holiday season, a number of holiday events are on tap for Central Florida.
Because of the great weather, Florida often becomes a destination for people all around the country trying to escape colder weather. The same holds true for tourists coming in from other countries, especially colder areas in Europe.
Of course, if you want to throw your own holiday-themed party, rental companies such as Fun Crew USA have enough choices to take give your guests a memorable time. They range from bounce houses for the kids to extreme thrill rides that will have adults talking about your holiday gathering for years to come.
But if you plan to go out, here are some of the places holding special events. In addition to what is below, almost every amusement park will have holiday festivities, which in Central Florida means you will have many choices. They include:
- Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom
- Macy’s Holiday Parade at Universal Studios (runs throughout December)
- SeaWorld Orlando’s Christmas Celebration
- Christmas Bricktacular at Legoland Florida

Central Florida Holiday Events: Christmas at Boc Tower Gardens
The beautiful estate at Boc Tower, located in Lake Wales, brings in designers to turn the area into a holiday show case with festive decorations. Also, the Sunset & Symphony Holiday and Christmas Carillon Concerts provide music for guests. The event runs through Jan. 8.
Grinchmas at Universal Studios
Holidays got you feeling a bit grumpy? Let out your inner Grinch at Universal Studios in an event that features all kinds of decorating details from the Dr. Seuss classic, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” as well as live readings of the book and other special events. You can also meet the Grinch himself and have breakfast with characters from the book.
Holidays Around the World at Epcot
An interesting holiday event that allows you to experience food, music and holiday celebrations as they are done in countries around the world. There is also a candlelight professional (complete with orchestra and choir) and a holiday version of the theme park’s nightly light show
Ice! At Gaylord Palms
This has become a signature holiday event in Central Florida. Gaylord Palms ships in two million pounds of hand-carved ice sculptures and offers four ice slides, all inside at a temperature of nine degrees. This year, the event has added a retelling of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” by Charles Schultz using ice sculptures and interactive displays. The last room in the walk-through event is a Nativity scene carved in ice.
Light Up UCF
This winter fair features rides, ice skating, a midway and a light show, among other attractions. The event is held at the CFE Arena on the University of Central Florida campus. Light Up UCF runs through Jan. 7.
